Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy Holiday to All Nurses!

A Holiday Wish from the Nursing Show

From us here at the Nursing Show and MedicCast Productions, we’d like to wish all of the Nursing Show listeners and site visitors a safe and happy Christmas, holiday season, and best wishes for the coming year.

We know that many of you are working some time around the holidays and will be sharing your caring nursing spirit with those around you.  It will be your smile, gentle touch, kind words, and thoughtful and insightful nursing interventions that will help those patients through the difficult times they face this holiday season.

Nurses Caring Throughout History

Nurses have historically carried people through difficult times.  Their influence can be felt throughout history and literature.  A recent book on the life of President Lincoln, Team of Rivals, tells at one point of the great influence a young nurse had on the President’s family’s trying time when one of his sons died.  How a nurse who had experienced the loss of her own children through disease, helped Mary Todd Lincoln begin to recover from her grief through her own caring words and companionship.

Never underestimate the impact you have on the people around you through even the simplest things that you do.  A fresh cup of water to the beside, an extra moment to talk and visit during patient care, or other simple interventions are all part of what makes nursing the best part of the healthcare process.  Never forget the impact you have on the lives around you!

Take care, stay safe, and keep in touch with your nursing blogs and sites in the coming year!
