Nursing Staff Retention and Recruiting Ideas

Last week’s episode of the Nursing Show featured a news article on “Happy Hostpitals and Happy Patients” that looked at staff satisfaction and involvement in patient care and satisfaction.  I talked about managers and hospital CEOs thinking “outside of the box.”

I found this article in a local paper promoting a seminar called “7 Habits of Highly Effective Nurses.”

Hanover Hospital is offering “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Nurses,” a free nursing symposium, 5 to 7 p.m.

Guest speaker is Peg Cromer, a nurse and spiritual director and staff member of Kairos School of Spiritual Formation, in Lancaster. She will present the management model based on human dynamic principles that have endured through changing times, cultures and traditions. Applied to nurses and the nursing profession, these habits offer insight and guidance for growth and development.

This is a great example of promoting nursing in your facility, providing extra value for your existing staff, and showing the community at large the ways you improve the care they will receive in your hospital.

Is your facility doing innovative things like this?  Contact me here at the Nursing Show and share your programs, retention efforts, and recruiting campaigns.  Comments@NursingShow.com
