Nurses Active in Health Care Reform Initiative

injected_world_globe_smThe California Nurses Association (CNA, the largest nursing union in the U.S.) is releasing a national advertising campaign and initiative in Congress to support a patient and health focused system.

The CNA/National Nurses Organizing Committee  (NNOC) is proposing a paradigm shift away from the insurance focused system where all decisions in the process are related to simple cost and monetary decisions.

The CNA/NNOC proposal is to move towards a definative single payer system for U.S. health care.

They have set up a landing page here to assist interested nurses in contacting their congressmen with their views on health care.

Health Care Reform is a Tough Issue

This is a contentious issue, I know.  While I have my own opinions about this, I wish for all of you to make your specific views heard.

There are millions of nurses in the U.S.  We are the single largest group of voters in the health care industry.

Nurses have unique insights into the patient care system including health care reform needs. As our patient loads continue to rise and the existing health care system costs collapses the infrastructure, something must be done.

Make sure your voice is heard so that whatever reform does occur reflects some of your views.  If none of us respond or express our wishes, we’ll have no right to complain when things stay the same.
