This Week- Emergency Cardiovascular Care 2010 Update Interview (part 2)

This episode is the second installment of the podmedic’s interview with Dr. Monica Kleinman, incoming Chair of the Emergency Cardiovascular Care committee at the American Heart Association (Heart.org/cpr) and Tom Bouthillet, author of the Prehospital 12 Lead blog and a Lieutenant/Paramedic with Hilton Head, SC Fire and Rescue.

They talk about the changes and differences from the 2005 guidelines like the new 5th chain of survival link, the issue on changing the ratio to compressions in CPR, importance of minimizing interruptions in chest compressions, oxygenation and resuscitation, and more.

For nurses, it is important to be aware and be informed of such changes so they could update themselves in the way they practice their skills to better provide quality care for our cardiac patients.

Find Part 1 of the ECC 2010 Update Interview with Dr. Monica Kleinman here.

Check out the ECC Update follow-up segment between Tom Bouthillet and I over at the MedicCast.
