Welcome to the Show
Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the Nursing Show podcast for nurses, by nurses. I’m your host Jamie Davis and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out the show this week. First in this week’s nursing news we’ll look at how good quality home care and nursing experience prevents hospital readmission and limits length of stay.
Then in the tip segment for the show this week I have a special segment from the NACCHO preparedness summit that covers new digital disease detection tools nurses in the public health arena are using to get the jump on pandemics and health events. That is coming up later on in this episode.
If you want to get back in touch with me, please drop me an email. You can send those e-mails in to NursingShow@Gmail.com. I love to hear from you and I make sure I respond back to every email that comes in. Send me links to news items you’d like me to cover, interview suggestions with you or somebody you know.

Tip of the Week – Digital Disease Detection for Public Health
I recently attended the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Preparedness Summit recently with the ProMed Network podcast studio. In one segment, I sat down with a group of experts in pandemic preparedness and detection to talk about how digital tools are being used to get an early detection for the next pandemic or public health event.
Joining me on the panel are Jack Herrmann, Senior Advisor and Chief of Public Health Programs at NACCHO, Dr. Karen Smith, Health Officer for Napa County, California Health Department, and Jennifer Olsen, Manager of Pandemics at the Skoll Global Threats Fund. They chat with me about how systems early detection tools in the digital arena are protecting our community’s populations.
