I’m your host Jamie Davis and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out the show this week. First up, in this week’s nursing news items, we’ll look at a story about a promising new breast cancer vaccine that could be the next step in treating this disease.
Then in this week’s special tip segment we’ll invite AANA president Sharon Pearce on the show to talk about their initiative called The Future of Anesthesia Care Today. What does the future hold for this and other advanced practice nursing specialties? We’ll have that and more later in this episode after the news.

Tip of the Week – Interview with AANA President Sharon Pearce
I was contacted recently by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists to see if I wish to chat with their president, Sharon Pearce about a new initiative to promote the safety and effectiveness of nurse delivered anesthesia. Called “The Future of Anesthesia Care Today” it focuses on the long tradition and track record of safety when this oldest nursing advanced practice specialty is involved with patient care.
Sharon talks about the history of nurse anesthesia and also about what the future holds for these highly skilled nurses as more and more states allow advanced practice nurses to practice independently and autonomously. Check it out.
