Tip of the Week – Managing Patient Preferences in Cancer Care

Paul Henderson Cancer TreatmentLegendary hockey star Paul Henderson had an enviable career that includes playing in two Stanley Cup finals and scoring the winning goal for team Canada in the final game of the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union. These days, the 71-year-old Canadian is taking on a new challenge off the ice. He’s battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia or CLL.

Paul made an interesting treatment choice when looking at his options. He chose to go with an experimental treatment rather than conventional chemo and radiation therapies. How important is it to work with patients in designing the best care options for them? Let’s learn more about how and why this patient made this interesting treatment decision in this upcoming interview segment.
