Welcome to the Show

Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the Nursing Show podcast for nurses, by nurses. I’m your host Jamie Davis and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out the show this week. First up, in this week’s nursing news items, we’ll look at how one study says it’s doctors and other health prescribers holding back widespread adoption of the HPV vaccine in our young adults.

Then in this week’s special tip segment we are joined by breast reconstruction surgery expert Dr. Allen Gabriel and nurse and breast cancer survivor Sherry Stose. What are the decisions that should go into making the decision to proceed with reconstructive surgery following breast cancer? We’ll find out some answers to that and more later in this episode after the news.

If you want to get back in touch with me, please drop me an email. You can send those e-mails in to I love to hear from you and I make sure I respond back to every email that comes in. Send me links to news items you’d like me to cover, interview suggestions with you or somebody you know.

Tip of the Week – Dealing with Breast Reconstruction Surgery Following Breast Cancer

breast-cancer-awareness-ribbonDuring last month, everyone focused on breast cancer awareness but what about helping the patient after breast cancer survival and surgery. We don’t talk about a woman’s choice to have reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy. Here on the Nursing Show to talk about this is Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and breast reconstruction expert Dr. Allen Gabriel. We are also joined by one of our own. A nurse and breast cancer survivor Sherry Stose. Here’s that segment.
