Welcome to the Show
Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the Nursing Show podcast for nurses, by nurses. I’m your host Jamie Davis and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out the show this week. First up, in this week’s nursing news items, we’ll look back at some of our historical nurses including those who served as flight nurses during flights evacuating wounded soldiers in World War II.
Then in this week’s special tip interview I have a look at the nursing specialty of the wound, ostomy, continence care nurse. What is it about this specialty that all nurses should know and how can you find out more about this type of specialized care? We’ll have that and more later in this episode after the news.
If you want to get back in touch with me, please drop me an email. You can send those e-mails in to NursingShow@Gmail.com. I love to hear from you and I make sure I respond back to every email that comes in. Send me links to news items you’d like me to cover, interview suggestions with you or somebody you know.

Tip of the Week – Wound Care Nursing Professionals
I got a request from one of our listeners here on the Nursing Show to bring on a guest to talk about wound care, ostomy and continence nursing. This nursing specialty is one that is seen as having more and more importance with the aging of our population. I invited Janice Beitz, professor at the Rutgers University School of Nursing Camden and a wound, ostomy, continence nurse practitioner. She shared with me a great resource for those interested in the specialty called WhyWoundCare.com. Check it out, there’ll be a link in the show notes for this episode and check this upcoming segment on this nursing
