Hey Jamie just recently started listening to you….thanks so much for your advice and comments:) I’ve been a nurse for 2 yrs. now…..worked nursing homes till just recently started working in hosp. What’s the best way to retain info. on med surg. when only studied it in school without looking like I’m lost?
Thanks.
Ann
If you have your textbook, I’d flip through and review that way. I would also be honest when you are working and ask lots of questions. A willingness to learn and work hard will be the biggest thing your co-workers and supervisors will remember after a few weeks. I think the rest will come back to you. (of course, listening to the back episodes of the Nursing Show won’t hurt either). Keep in touch and let me know what works for you.

Our facility does not allow the automoatic blood pressure machines; the facility educator thinks that they are inaccurate. What are your thoughts on taking blood pressure for medication perameters and for monitoring weekly. Our facility is long term care and there are a lot of people that pressures are not audible and I usually can only get a palpated systolic. We are very pressed for time on each shift to do assessments and the BP can be the most difficult assessment to complete.
